1) Use the right box!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Typically you\u2019ll need one large box for every 4 medium boxes. Use smaller boxes for heavy items such as books and dishes; the large boxes for lighter items like bedding, blankets and linens.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Don\u2019t overload<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Packed boxes should not weigh more than you can comfortably lift. Make sure the box remains “square” and not bulging at the top or sides in order to keep them stable when stacking.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) LABEL Everything!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Use a Vivid marker to label the contents of every box. You don\u2019t want to be guessing later with every box opened and spread across the floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) It’s not Rubbish?!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

until you use rubbish bags for storing stuff! Plastic bags get squished, dinged, ripped, or worse yet, full of mildew from lack of ventilation. Use boxes and proper packing materials for professional results.<\/p>\n

5) Tape Matters<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Good quality packaging tape is essential.<\/p>\n

6) Hang things up<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t keep your good clothes in a pile at home, so why pile them in a box here? Use hanging wardrobe boxes. They are also good for drapes and other fabrics that need some TLC and room to breathe.<\/p>\n

7) Think Small<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Many stored items can be made smaller, especially bed frames. Wrap frames together with a few rounds of tape (use the non-sticky side for no tape residue); place any screws in plastic bags and tape to frame.<\/p>\n
